Who can I contact if I have suggestions for improvement?

If you have an idea on how your work or the company can be improved, there are several people you can contact: usually your supervisor, the works council, and – if available – the workplace or health and safety committee. You can present your idea there.

You should know:

  • First, talk to your supervisor or manager. You can present your idea directly there. This is often the simplest way.
  • If there is a works council: You can make suggestions to the works council at any time – for example, on better processes, safer workplaces, or fair rules.
  • If your idea relates to occupational safety or health: The works council is particularly important. They advocate for safe and healthy working conditions.
  • All employees are allowed to make improvement suggestions: You have the right to submit your suggestions to the employer, your employer, or the works council – for example, on working conditions, processes, or safety.
  • In many companies, there can also be a bonus if it is a good improvement suggestion. Talk to your works council about this.

Why is this important:

  • Your idea can help make work safer and better for you and your colleagues.
  • Your opinion counts: The works council ensures that employees are heard.
  • Improvement suggestions can reduce stress, simplify processes, and minimize hazards.
