What is the difference between mandatory and voluntary occupational health care by the company doctor?
Occupational health check-ups come in two forms: mandatory check-ups and voluntary check-ups. You must attend the mandatory check-up. You may voluntarily participate in the voluntary check-up. Both types help protect your health at work.
You should know:
Mandatory check-up:
You must participate if you perform certain tasks that could be hazardous to your health. Example: If you work with chemicals, you must be regularly examined to ensure you stay healthy.
Voluntary check-up:
You may voluntarily participate. No one can force you. Example: If you work a lot on the screen, you can have a check-up to examine your eyes, back, or posture.
Both check-ups help you detect early on whether your work is straining or endangering your health. They give you tips on how to protect yourself. Everything you say to the company doctor remains private. They only pass on what is necessary for workplace safety.
